Women in Engineering — Building engineering toys for girls!
GoldieBlox CEO Debra Sterling talks about what makes her toy company different and why she created GoldieBlox, an engineering toy for girls.
GoldieBlox is a children's toy and multimedia company that aims to disrupt the pink aisle and inspire the next generation of female engineers. The company creates books and construction toys starring Goldie, a girl inventor who loves to build. By combining an interactive book series with a construction toy, GoldieBlox introduces girls to engineering concepts through the power of storytelling.
Debra Sterling, a Stanford-educated engineer, founded GoldieBlox after noticing the gender gap in her engineering classes. Her mission is to get girls interested in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) from an early age, helping to close the gender gap in engineering and technology fields.
